The timeless charm of the Hotel Continental in Treviso reflects 70 years of hospitality. Featuring elegant early 20th-century interiors, the hotel boasts such a captivating atmosphere that it was chosen in 2004 as the setting for Paolo Sorrentino’s famous film “The Consequences of Love.”
Today, the need to comply with the most stringent and up-to-date safety regulations has called for a targeted architectural intervention. The challenge for Astec was an exciting one: to incorporate cutting-edge, life-saving technology while preserving the priceless historical character of the spaces and adapting to the existing openings.
The Astec Project: The New Safety Compass
Astec designed and built a strategic lobby, located at a true nerve center of the facility: across from the stairs leading to the guest rooms and the two conference rooms. This installation faces the main exit, serving simultaneously as a safe escape route and an elegant entrance to the American Bar.
Redundant Technology
The technical heart of the project consists of redundant automatic sliding doors. This sophisticated system entrusts the building’s safety entirely to automation: the redundant technology ensures that, in the event of danger, the system will not fail, guaranteeing immediate opening and the complete safety of guests.
“Bespoke” Polishing
Every detail of the aesthetic integration was meticulously crafted thanks to an extraordinary collaboration. The hotel owner, a trained architect, worked directly with Astec’s master craftsmen. Working directly in the company’s burnishing tanks, he “created” and perfected a custom burnished finish, a unique, bespoke finish that harmonizes perfectly with the Continental’s early 20th-century spirit, demonstrating how cutting-edge safety engineering can blend seamlessly with great design.
