Beautiful, functional and state-of-the-art, this building consciously seeks to foster community and inspire creativity through its design and its very fabric – the Astec Bronze cladding, over brick and cast stone.

Vertical Astec Bronze panels also help to break up the brick street-facing façade on a nine-storey residential tower that houses 14 two-bedroomed apartments and an office level.

In antiquity, the concept of shutters or blinds was “to see without being seen”. It was meant to create par- tial darkness for rest, but also to be able to see inside the room without being seen. In Sicily, such shutters or blinds were called “Le Gelosie Siciliane.” In America, they are called screens.

The Astec Bronze Screens are made of various kinds of copper alloys, including bronze and nickel or alpacca like those used in the 1950s to make silver-like cutlery. The shading and shielding system are made pursuant to Astec’s proprietary know-how for manufacturing architectural details in bronze and other alloys.

The Astec Bronze Screens can be incorporated and built into Astec’s proprietary ABX® windows and doors made with extruded architectural bronze profiles. The Astec Bronze Screens are available in many designs, finishes and versions and have been customized for clients, to include as many or as little micro or macro perforations as may be desired.

Astec Bronze Screens can be used in residential living spaces as well as in business spaces, enabling perfect integration in any architectural setting to enable the shading and protection.
These systems, being the main shielding elements from light and weather conditions, offer the user not only a better living environment but also reduced energy consumption and economic savings.
