The restoration of the Isola di San Servolo in Venice was a complex and challenging project that involved Astec and managed to return to the island its ancient splendor, making it an active and dynamic part of Venetian life.
The island is the headquarters of the Venice International University, a decentralized arm of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts and the International College of Venice’s Ca’ Foscari University.
In this context, Astec installed ABX® architectural bronze doors and windows from its proprietary K85 series – for the entrance and side doors – and H75 series for lifting and sliding bronze windows. This project involved creating custom sliding doors that weighed up to 500 kg.
Another important element of this restoration was the copper alloy cladding that Astec supplied with the innovative TECU® Bond Brass product, that gave excellent planarity to the covering and integrated perfectly with the environment thanks to the burnishing system and controlled tones that are typical of products by Astec.
